Girls Varsity Cross Country · What’s that smell? We race at the Tour De Sewer!

  Place Points
Coldwater High School 3rd 80

For the first time in program history, the Coldwater Cross Country team travelled to Versailles to compete in the Tour De Sewer Invite. The invitation, which received it’s name because of the location of the course near the water treatment plant, held a variety of challenges. From the hilly course in the back wooded area to the exposed roots that would roll even the best of ankles, the Ladies of Coldwater would run to a season best finish of 3rd place. They would only be outpaced by two division 2 schools in St. Marys and Brookville. This would also mark the first time this year the Cavaliers would top the home team Versailles setting up a great match up down the road at the Lions Invite and MAC meet.
Once again leading the Coldwater trotters was Haley Alig who finish first with a time of 19:30. The second place runner would finish 1:25 behind her. Following Haley would be a group of girls affectionately called “the blob” who have a knack of sticking together and display pack running. Beth Honingford and Carlee Goodwin would be the first wave of the blob coming across the line respectively 10th and 17th and only 17 seconds apart. The next wave would start 30 seconds later with Lily Schoenherr and Shelby Homan at 27th and 28th place. The final wave that would close out the varsity spots were Sara Honingford and Lindsey Pease at 33rd and 36th place. Great team racing.
The rest of the results went as followed:
1st Haley Alig 19:30
10th Beth Honingford 22:13
17th Carlee Goodwin 22:32
27th Lily Schoenherr 23:08
28th Shelby Homan 23:12

71st Courtney Bye 25:53

108th Emma Frilling 34:57

Good job fighting the good fight today in your races. We keep improving in the right direction. The Lady Cavs will take the week off from racing and will be preparing for the final push toward the tournament run. That push begins at the Lions Invite two weeks from today. Come and see these Lady Cavaliers fly.
