Justin Kaup didn’t feel much like getting out on Monday, tallying four hits and leading Coldwater Junior Varsity Cavaliers to a 14-4 win over Fort Recovery. Kaup singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the fourth, and singled in the seventh.
Coldwater got things started in the first inning. Casey Goodwin singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.
The Cavaliers tallied five runs in the second inning. Cavaliers’s big inning was driven by singles by Evan Harlamert, Josh Welsch, and Kaup and a sacrifice fly by Curtis Duerr.
Kaup was credited with the victory for Coldwater. The pitcher surrendered four runs on ten hits over seven innings, striking out six.
Bihn took the loss for Fort Recovery. The hurler surrendered seven runs on five hits over one inning, striking out one.
Coldwater Junior Varsity Cavaliers totaled 14 hits in the game. Kaup, Goodwin, Keegan Bruggeman, and Harlamert each managed multiple hits for Coldwater. Kaup went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Cavs in hits.
Fort Recovery collected ten hits on the day. Ervin, Bihn, and Dues all managed multiple hits for Fort Recovery.
