Coldwater Cavaliers Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 10-2 loss to Minster on Thursday. Minster scored on a double by J Poeppelman in the second inning.

The Coldwater Cavaliers Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Minster, giving up ten runs.

Minster pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Poeppelman doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Minster scored three runs in the third inning. Minster’s big inning was driven by singles by J Berelsman and A Schmiesing.

Poeppelman got the win for Minster. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out four.

Maddie Stienke took the loss for Coldwater Cavaliers Varsity. She surrendered ten runs on 14 hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Stienke led Coldwater Cavaliers Varsity with two hits in three at bats.

Minster had 14 hits in the game. E Schmiesing, Poeppelman, C Richard, T Homan, and Schmiesing each managed multiple hits for Minster. Minster tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Richard led the way with two. Minster was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. L Hemmelgarn made the most plays with seven.
