Girls Varsity Cross Country · Girls Varsity Cross Country finishes Runner Ups at MAC League Meet!!!

The temperature drops. The ground firms up, except when the sky drops 3 inches of rain in 7 or 8 days. The runner’s focus becomes sharpened like a pencil ready to take the ACT. If you have been around this sport long enough, you can smell it the air. Its MAC TIME!!! A time where runners representing Rangers, Tigers, and Cavs…oh my, descend on Coldwater Community Park to see who can run the fastest? Who can last the longest? What team can come together the best to win a trophy with a golden like figure with perfect running form adorning the top? All these questions find answers at the MAC MEET!

How did our Lady Cavs fare at the MAC MEET? It all can be summed up in one word: CAVTASTIC!!! The Cavalierettes ran season bests across the board to bring home a non existent Runner Up trophy finishing behind the defending state champion Minster Wildcats and just ahead of the state ranked Versailles Tigers. When asked about the final results, Conner Muhlenkamp could not speak because she was choked up with tears of joy. Don’t worry Conner, I get emotional too.

The Ladies of Coldwater were led by Haley Alig, who would finish in 6th place and earned a free meal at the MAC BANQUET for being 1st team ALL MAC. Joining Haley for the free meal was Beth Honigford who finished 12th overall. Be ready girls to eat on someone else’s dime. Rounding out the rest of the top 7 were Sara Honigford (16th), Brittany Walterbusch (25th), Lily Schoenherr (29th), Colby Homan (30th), and Leanne Klenke (52nd). Our Varsity team did great today chasing down other runners and putting up small numbers.

Other finishers for the Cavaliers were:
Paige Ayers 77th
Conner Muhlenkamp 81st
Maddie Steinke 83rd
Hannah Huwer 104th
Hannah Minton 145th

Great running today ladies and congrats on your efforts. Today is also the day we start to look at the second season….the quest for State. We hope in three weeks you will see a post talking about our efforts at Hebron. The countdown is at 21 days and it all starts next week at Ottawa Glandorf. Next time you see a Lady Cav from the XC program, wish them luck.
