Coldwater High School 11th 270

For an October morning, the weather was perfect for a fast race and that is what the Coldwater Lady JH Cross Country team run into today at the Lions Invite. The seven junior high young ladies toed the line against 21 other teams and competed for pride and prestige as the Coldwater Memorial Park was flood with runners chasing PRs and points for their respective schools. The Lady Cavs would finish 11th as the girls would run some of their fastest times of the year. The JH Cavalierettes were led by Kate Hemmelgarn who finished 30th overall in a time of 13:44. She was followed by Izzy Zahn and Ella Kahlig who crossed the finishing tape at 14:44 and 14:56 respectively. Closing close behind was Eve Lisi at 15:12, Faith Pohlman at 16:34, Dana Zahn at 19:34, and the performance of the day belonging to Nora Wehrkamp who ran a 21:42. Now looking at the time, you may ask why did Nora earn the runner of the day for the Lady Cavs. Well, Nora would complete the course today by dropping nearly 2 1/2 minutes off her time and previously never breaking 24 minutes. When asked about the race afterwards, Nora would comment, “I didn’t want to bother with the 23s or 22s anymore. I decided that my time would be in the 21s today.” Great job Nora and Great Job Lady Cavs!!!

They will be back in action next Saturday at Coldwater to compete in the MAC Championship. One last race of the year. Come out and see these ladies run.
