Coldwater snagged a late lead and defeated Archbold 5-4 in the Regional Finals on Friday. The game was tied at four with the Cvas batting in the top of the eighth when an error scored one run for Coldwater.
Archbold fired up the offense in the second inning. Grosjean singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The Cvas notched four runs in the seventh inning. The rally was led by singles by Will Broering, Zack McKibben, and Myles Blasingame and by Reece Dellinger.
Jacob Wenning got the win for the Cavaliers. He allowed six hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out one. Broering threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Rice took the loss for Archbold. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out one and walking zero.
Ramos started the game for Archbold. He lasted six innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out five.
Coldwater saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. Blasingame and Noah Miller each had multiple hits for the Cavaliers. Blasingame went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Coldwater in hits.
Archbold tallied six hits. Kern and Grosjean each collected multiple hits for Archbold.
The Cavaliers improve their record to 25-6 with the Regional Title win. The Cavs punch their ticket to the State Final Four with the victory.
