Cavaliers fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-6 loss to Shawnee on Tuesday. Shawnee scored on an error, an error, a double by Sage Ebling, and an error in the second inning.
Despite the loss, the Cavaliers did collect four hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Shawnee had 14 hits on the way to victory.
Shawnee got on the board in the second inning. An error scored one run for Shawnee.
Jarin Bertke earned the win for the Indians. The pitcher went two innings, allowing six runs on three hits and striking out three. Caden Vermillion threw five innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Luke Sudhoff took the loss for the Cavaliers. Sudhoff surrendered nine runs on ten hits over three innings.
Zack McKibben, Adam Hrycko, Brady Klingshirn, and Sudhoff all had one hit to lead Coldwater.
Shawnee tallied 14 hits in the game. Derrick Lyons, Bertke, Logan Maxwell, and Luke Cowan all had multiple hits for Shawnee. Lyons went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Shawnee in hits.
The Cavs drop to 3-2 on the season while the Indians improve to 5-1. Coldwater opens league play on Thursday at New Knoxville. First pitch scheduled for 5:00.
