The Cavaliers fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 5-2 loss to Lima Shawnee on Thursday. Lima Shawnee took the lead on a single in the first inning.
Vermillion led Shawnee to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He went four innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out four. Bertke threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Cole Frilling took the loss for the Cavs. He allowed seven hits and three runs over four innings.
The Cavs racked up seven hits on the day. Noah Miller and Mitch Niekamp all managed multiple hits for Coldwater. Miller went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Cavs in hits.
Shawnee collected 13 hits on the day. Behnke, Hutchins, and Maxwell all managed multiple hits. Behnke led Lima Shawnee with three hits in three at bats. Shawnee didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cowan had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.

The Cavs return to action on Saturday @ Anna for an 11:00 start.
