In the first inning, Butler got their offense started when Smith singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Butler took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Smith singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Fults drew a walk, scoring one run, Harestad singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs, and Butler scored one run on a stolen base.

Hull earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Butler. He allowed five hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Bill and Miller entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Ross Weigel took the loss for the Cavaliers.

Coldwater smacked one home run on the day. Noah Miller had a long ball in the first inning.

Zack McKibben led the Cavaliers with two hits in three at bats.

Butler tallied nine hits on the day. Smith, Miller, and Harestad each had multiple hits for Butler. Butler tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Miller led the way with two.

The Cavs fall to 21-6 on the season. They will return to tournament play on Thursday at 2:00 in Elida for a District contest against Ft. Recovery.
