Brad Giere threw a gem on Thursday for Coldwater, allowing zero runs and besting Minford by a score of 11-0
In the first inning, the Cavs got their offense started when an error scored one run for Coldwater.
A single by Reid Schultz in the second inning was a positive for Minford.
Giere was the winning pitcher for the Cavs. He lasted five innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out two and walking one.
Elijah Vogelsong took the loss for Minford. He allowed four hits and seven runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two.
Sam Broering went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Coldwater in hits. Coldwater was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Nathan Grunden had the most chances in the field with three.
With the win, Coldwater improves to 27-6 and advances to the Div. III State Final game Saturday at 1:00 vs. Canfield South Range (17-15).
South Range beat Madeira in their State Semi-final game 7-0 in the night-cap game today.
