Coldwater scores more runs than the Lancers, takes victory on Tuesday to the tune of 4-3
In the first inning, Coldwater got their offense started when Jacob Wenning singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Wenning earned the win for Coldwater. He lasted three and a third innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out three and walking one. Ross Weigel threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Wenning recorded the last ten outs to earn the save for Coldwater.
Thad Walker took the loss for Lincolnview. He allowed six hits and two runs over five innings, striking out one and walking zero.
Chayten Overholt started the game for Lincolnview. He surrendered two runs on three hits over one inning, walking one
Coldwater tallied nine hits. Jack Muhlenkamp, Nathan Grunden, and Sam Broering all collected multiple hits for Coldwater. Broering, Grunden, and Muhlenkamp each collected two hits to lead Coldwater.
Lincolnview was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Gavin Carter made the most plays with five.
The Cavs improve to 21-6 on the season while the Lancers fall to 19-5. Coldwater will continue their tournament play on Thursday afternoon with a 2:00 start vs. Van Buren at Elida High School.
Note: Lincolnview will play their Division IV tournament game tomorrow night, here at Veterans Field, in the night cap vs. Crestview (7:00 start). St. Henry will face Minster to start the day tomorrow with a 5:00 start.
