Coldwater defeated Ft. Loramie 1-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Ross Weigel induced a fly out from Hilgefort to finish off the game.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Coldwater pitchers struck out one, while Ft. Loramie pitchers sat down three.
One bright spot for Ft. Loramie was a single by Middendorf in the first inning.
Brad Giere led things off on the mound for Coldwater. He lasted two innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while walking zero.
Billing was on the hill for Ft. Loramie. He went four and a third innings, allowing zero runs on four hits, striking out two and walking one. Raterman threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Coldwater tallied seven hits. Seth Miller and Sam Broering all had multiple hits for Coldwater. Broering and Miller each collected two hits to lead Coldwater.
Middendorf led Ft. Loramie with two hits in three at bats.
Coldwater improves to 20-5 on the season while Ft. Loramie drops to 20-6. Cavs return to action this week with Monday at Van Wert, Tuesday home vs. Lincolnview, and resume tournament play Thursday for a District matchup with Van Buren. Thursday’s District game is a 2:00 start at Elida.
