Coldwater took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Edison. The game was tied at one with the Cavs batting in the bottom of the seventh when Sam Broering singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Brad Giere struck out four, while Roberts sat down five.
Giere was the winning pitcher for Coldwater. He surrendered one run on five hits over seven innings, striking out four and walking zero. Giere recorded the last 21 outs to earn the save for the Cavs.
Roberts took the loss for Edison. He lasted six and a third innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out five.
Nathan Grunden went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Coldwater in hits. Coldwater didn’t commit a single error in the field. Jacob Hartings had five chances in the field, the most on the team.
Kessler led Edison with two hits in two at bats.
Coldwater improves to 25-6. The Cavs will be back at Elida tomorrow (Friday) for a 5:00 start vs. Columbus Academy (18-13), who beat Archbold in the night cap 4-3 in walk-off fashion.
